Pathology

Health Focus for practice management software

Electronic pathology reporting

You need to have a Health Focus product running in your practice to integrate to the pathology feature.  For more information on PathCare and what they offer, click here.  The pathology viewer is an advanced system that integrates with the medical Health Focus 2000 software product.  It is fully integrated and accepts reports sent from a Pathology or Lancet pathologist directly into the system.  All current versions of Eminance are fully compliant with the Ampath database, and allows you to receive your pathology reports electronically, integrating these reports with the patient file.

Using secure Internet connections, and encrypted messages, this secure method of receiving your report, which sends an acknowledgement back to the lab, even allows the generation of graphs and differential lab norms.   The viewer is supplied as part of the standard system, and requires a normal Internet connection, and authentication certificate per computer system.

Reports are allocated against a specific patients account either manually or automatically, using a variety of criteria to minimise risk and to maximize an exact match.  Because the request contains pertinent patient information, ranging from the medical aid membership number, through to the ID number and sex of the patient, you can set a probability percentage match limit.  If this limit is not matched, the report will remain unallocated, allowing you to confirm the match manually.  This methodology ensures an extremely high level of report to patient match.

These reports can be viewed at any time, and are stored against the patients clinical record.  When accessing the clinical record, or the pathology viewer, all reports are shown.  Double clicking on a specific report will expand the report, which can be printed at any time.

Reports of the same type can be shown graphically, using the test results sent with the specific report.  Reports of this nature can be viewed graphically at any time, even on historical pathology reports, provided that the report has originated from the same lab.

The accumulated results for any one patient can be viewed with a click of a button.  Double clicking on the report will drill down and display the detail of the specific report.  Reports can be accessed from the patients clinical record, or from the pathology viewer itself.

The reporting facilities allow you to view all reports that have arrived, as well as reports that have been allocated against patients accounts.  This audit trail, along with the automatic acknowledgement to the lab ensures a high level of integrity and security.
